Sunday after the meet, I'm planning on taking my boat out. If anyone is still in town, I'm happy for y'all to join me. Water temp is about 75, thus it is swimmable, but on the cool side.

Very nice...it's a party barge, folks.

Sorry to hear @jaywillin won't make it, but great to hear the knee is ahead of schedule!

I will bring name tags, a couple extension cords and a power strip (if I can find one).
We can always use more power strips, folks.

The brats sound perfect, Tom.
Can you please get a few limes for the caipirinhas? Do you have sugar?

Still no contact from @Theogenes and I don't think he's active on Head-Fi any longer.

Looking forward to see everyone again, and meet some new friends!

Best -
Dick

I am really disappointed to miss. I was really looking forward to listening to quite a few pieces of gear.
You can still come up on Sunday and listen to my stuff.

My meet Impressions:

A very nice albeit somewhat warm afternoon in Smithville, TN.
In attendance were Tom, Chuck, Annette and me.

Tom's house is beautiful. Open and inviting.
His view of Center Hill Lake is unmatched.
See the picture.

Chuck drove down from Evansville, IN.
He brought all his gear...WA5, LAu, PS Audio DAC, LCD-4 with Double Helix cable.
I brought most of my gear...GMB, Bryston BHA-1, HD800 and Ether Flow.

Tom's home audio system is amazing.
Especially the Quad ES speakers.
I've never heard female voices sound better.

Tom cooked us lunch. He served food at 12:30pm.
Burgers, brats, potato and fresh salad, spicy cole slaw!
Along with some interesting and highly satisfying libations.

After lunch, we reposed to the deck overlooking Center Hill Lake.
To discuss headphones, music, and life in general.
Then back to the rigs.

I was thankful to listen to Chuck's LCD-4 on my rig.
That was my #1 goal of this meet.
Listen to the LCD-4 on my rig, so...and answer the question.
Should I buy these HP's?

The SQ was exceptional. Totally blows away the LCD-X.

As you know, I have a modest rig...GMB + BHA-1. That rig made the LCD-4 shine.
So, now, I have a plan!
Sell my LDC-X and Ether Flow, and buy the LCD-4.

I love a meet that answers my #1 question.

The meet was not well-attended, but the folks who did show up had a great time.
Tom had a lot of food left over.
Being the perfect host, he said that wasn't a big deal for him.

It would have been nice to see you other folks.
Perhaps you can make the next meet. If there is one.

Our thanks to Tom for inspiring and hosting this meet.
Annette said it was the best meet to which she's ever been.

There won't be a meet impressions thread.

Chuck and Tom, if you want to comment, please do it here...
Then I will close the thread.

With warm regards,
Dick Bailey

Thanks Dick for your review.
Besides hardware, I'm always on the lookout for new music. I found Hiromi, this meet. I enjoyed the meet, it was great having y'all join me for the day.

Super bummed not to make it. I hope to make it next year. I'll hopefully have a bit better setup anyway.

Next time I will double check with the wife before saying I can make it.

Thanks, guys, for your replies. Hope to get to meet you one day...

The best part of the meet, besides the company of Tom and Chuck, was hearing Chuck's LCD-4 on my rig.
They sounded great. Clearly a step-up from the LCD-X, which I love.

Annette (my wife) and I both listened to some Joe Bonamassa.
Her favorite song is Hummingbird from the Live From Carnegie Hall album.
She also listened to her 2nd favorite...Allen Toussaint's Close Up. Piano jazz.
She said it sounded like she was next to his piano.

Her conclusion was a good one.
She doesn't care what I do with headphones, as long as I keep the HD800 and don't mess with the DAC or amp. HA!

I will ask the admin to close this thread later this week, if anyone else would like to comment.

Cheers,
Dick Bailey
