not a heavy alcoholic here but what i noticed with whiskey`s is that i rather buy captain morgan then whiskeys under 40-60€ a bottle, there are some rare cases where whiskey taste good under this but most of the time im kinda dissapointed and it tastes really harsh, best bang for the buck is definitely captain morgan for me, but there are of course better rums then captain morgan but if we speak cheap stuff, captain morgan is a winner for me, there is nothing that comes close in the 10-20€ ballbark

Don't bother with 10-20€ for "taste". I even disliked Maker's Mark. With coke ok, pure not so much.
Good things start at 30 bucks, with something like a Woodford Reserve. Even then, the Double Oaked version is far superior.
That being said, you don't have to go much higher in price for good quality stuff, both my favourite rums are ~35€, Reserva Exclusiva and Barril Rum.

Try the Barceló rum, Anejo is from the middle line. Maybe you'll like it more than Morgan)))
P.S. Well, the best rum I've drunk in my life is Zacapa Centenario Solera Gran Reserva 23 years. It's just fantastic!)))

I drink a lot of whiskey of all price ranges. I think Cutty Sark's Prohibition Blended is quite nice for around 50 usd.

I had the 38 Royal Salute but can't really recommend it for taste. Beautiful nose but the taste falls off too quickly.

Macallan is usually my go to and surprisingly enough their traveler Estate Reserve was the best I've had so far (even vs the vintage stuff).

The next bottle is the 27 Red Breast which I am excited about, it's been sitting on my desk for a while.

For group events, I just bring Tawny Port 30 or 40. Never disappoints and satisfies all types of alcoholics.

Delwhinney 15 is my go to, 145 cad $. Stops the drain on the good stuff. I’m out and need a bottle:)
