The PS500X so far is simply a level above the RS2X. When EQ'd the RS2x is very good, the PS500X without EQ exceeds it in expansiveness, bass slam and depth, tone and smoothness. It's unfortunate that this is a very limited run and I'm quite happy to have stumbled upon it after missing out initially.

If it's only a slight variation of the MHA200 as was the MHA150 to the MHA100, for me it's not exactly a development worth watching out for, even if it fixes the unity gain issue. I really hope it's a hybrid following their more recent integrateds MA252 and 352.

Ordered some silver core cables for my HEKSE as well. While I can't really tell if it's real silver as advertised unless i strip and burn the ends (even then), it's definitely better than stock cable in ergonomics, build quality and overall detail and transparency.

Not a Lyr +, but I have a Lyr 3 and it has completely changed my old perception about tubes (I blame Cayin and Woo Audio for this). I used to be a solid state guy and I've just recently sold my V281 to go further the rabbit hole with a full tubed amp.

Do let us know if any of these pads sound the same way as the stock pads. Trying to look for more comfortable (and prettier) options but not at the expense of the altering the grado sound, I'd rather EQ than adjust the sound with pads.

I personally prefer the single tube on top of my Lyr 3 over an adaptor with 2 6J5 and I'm able to resist any sonic advantages that may have for now. But I'm weak and always curious so I can also see this happening at some point lol.

This is the EQ for an SR80 that I tweaked a bit for my RS2x. I know these 2 models sound differently to begin with, but it was a good start for me as I'm not technical at all to draw up my own settings much less perform a test first to base it on. If others are willing to share their settings...

Between pads and EQ, there's certainly a lot of room to tweak the sound of Grados which we all like to different degrees here. I'm certainly happy to have these options before adding a GH4 or 325x to my RS2x (but y all know im already thinking about it).
