Astell&Kern ACRO CA1000 Carriable Headphone Amp

None of our servers have been hacked. There was an issue with the date on all AK players where it would not display years past 2023. We've updated 27 players in the month of February and haven't had a chance to update the website with all the firmware versions for those 27 devices.

The update released OTA was legitimate and fixes the date/time issue, among other bug fixes. The website should be updated soon.

We have never released firmware for download and manual install for any player that has wifi. Wifi enabled players only update OTA from our servers.

We had two reported issues with the latest firmware update and both in UK coincidently. One person's player started working normally after a factory reset and the other was sent in for service. Most of the time when similar issues happen, it is because the update got corrupt on download or install. It very rarely happens, but does happen.

Thank you for your comment. It was very strange to read the first post from a new user advising of an update and then several posts that had had very serious problems with that update (One of the UK users with that problem wrote that he had three unrecoverable ACRO CA1000s after update and sent a photo of his collection).

Thanks for the clarification.

Is there any plans for any more future updates this year? I ask because although its functioning, my unit is still a little unstable at times. I have restarted a few times in one sitting to get out of a lag/freezing. It would lag slow on album art with previously firmware but never had a freeze issue that made me force restart till now.
There should be soon, although I don't have an eta or timeframe on next set of product firmware updates. Once I have more info, I will share.

I thought he posted that he had 3 CA1000, one had issues with the update and the other two were fine. I'll need to go back in the thread and find the post.

The others didn't go well, he just didn't dare to update them after the problem with the update posted in the thread by a newly registered user with no messages.

Yes I have 3 CA1000. 2 I have left as they are. I'm in the UK. Sent it back to reseller. They down graded current fw to previous version and the unit still would not charge. Sent to Germany to be repaired. Will receive it this week.

Take it easy with conspiracy theories, amigo.

So your issue might be not related to firmware update at all? Anyhow, thanks for sharing your gear photo- makes me feel much better about the extent of my own addiction 😀

My unit working fine post update. Could be placebo but ui feels a little snappier and frequency of amp clicks on track changes has gone down.

Thank you amigo. Next time I'll run to update when I see a message from a new user, then bug reports from long-time users and no official comment. Security? Others will take care of it. It's included in the price

This unit can now be bought 1st hand dirt cheap....tempting, but even so have any of the FW updates fixed the WiFi/UI experience? I would only use this as a Roon endpoint, so if the WiFi has issues, it would be useless.

Also - can anyone compare it to Mojo 2?

Wifi is solid enough to keep signal and stream from my Plex Server in a three story townhouse where the server is on the ground floor and the CA1000 is on the top floor.

It's not the strongest wifi antenna by any means, but it's doing the job for me. Don't know if that helps at all?

UI is standard A&K circa three or so years ago - nice enough to be inoffensive, just about slick enough to get the job done. At the price the new old stock is going for in some places at the moment, it's a steal.

I agree, have my little small issues but for what it is and use case its a good device doubling as a streamer and a dac plus headphone amp that can integrate into your stereo system is dope!

I don't have any wifi issues, using tplink or asus router.

That's where I got mine from. It's basically the CA2000T with a more powerful amp section (sans tubes) and less portability. The line in / amp only option is more useful than I thought, too - was running my other half's record deck through it for a while when we wanted to listen to vinyl on the decent cans in the house.

Thanks both. Ordered one from Amazon UK - hard to say no at such a nutty price. Look forward to seeing/hearing how Roon performs on it.

I don't use Roon but Tidal and Spotify is working ok so far that i do use. Also get yourself the remote either one from Teenage Engineering or the old Astell remote on ebay if you find it. The app to control it does not work so great for me, its limited i hope they update the app and fix the issues.

Funny thing is the old app i used a long time ago worked better. For me with the AK connect app freezes, the now playing screen don't work or volumn control on iOS. I can play music from iphone to it but none of the other features are working.
