will I need an amp if I go with the X2 or would I be able to use it on my Macbook Pro onboard sound on my PC?

I like the convenience of being able to plug my HD598s anywhere, I want an upgrade so I'm looking for the best easy to drive headphones from $500 and $1k ranges, what do you guys?

Massdrop has it up for $69 right now, I have an HD598 using onboard sound card, planning to get another pair of headphones possible Fidelio X2 or HE500. Should I go for it? Or should I go with the Schiit stack?

I looked through the stickies, there's so many to choose from it's hard to make a decision. I'm looking for something that is sub $150, one that can withstand abuse from the gym and still provide great sound when I'm vegging out. I listen to all kinds of music so hopefully that helps.
