I've never owned an expensive pair of headphones. All of the ones I have heard have cost about 30 bucks. I have also never heard a high end headphone so I dont know what to expect. The headphones I have heard have been quite poor compared with the high end speakers I have heard. Not surprising...

Hi everyone, I am looking to upgrade from my Grado Sr80i to either an Sr325is, RS2i, or if it's really worth saving another $100 for, a PS500. I obviously love the "Grado sound", but what are the major differences. Any info helps.:)

What are the pros and cons of headphones at or around the $1000 price range?   Like the Beyerdynamic T1, Hifiman HE-6, Grado PS1000, Ultrasone Edition 12, Denon AH-D5000, Fostex TH-900. I know a bit about HD800 because I own them, and LCD2/3s. But less people talk about these other headphones...

I get the feeling they are being left behind especially in the high end products category.  They have not had an answer to the top end products from Sennheiser, Audeze, and Beyerdynamic.
