Flare EARS by Flare Audio
Not selling my R, these are definitely keepers. Does anyone have thoughts on sonic differences between R and S? I'm starting to get the triangle design, which is annoying as I've been quite vociferous on here about not liking them. For the past couple of weeks I've been back on the stock...- Haden2866

Avantone : Pro Planar
I bought a set of brand new Planar 1, serial number 8xx, at a very attractive price on fleabay and it seems to be OK. Haven't had a chance to use it a great deal, but no immediately apparent QC concerns for me. Will get around to doing the balanced mod, at some point, as my sources (Cayin RU7...- Haden2866

Flare EARS by Flare Audio
Tricky to say - I've only used CP100+ and not the CP100. I felt the W1 had an extended treble compared to CP100+ but I'd have to go back and forth to be sure, and I start getting a bit cross-eyed at that point. 👀- Haden2866

You can get W1 as a single pair now, instead of having to buy a set of S/M/L.- Haden2866

Affirmative. Also agree about foam ear tips being essential. I had a batch of (UK) Crystalline Audio Crystal Tips which were perfect. They don't seem to be trading anymore, sadly.- Haden2866

Flare EARS by Flare Audio
I think the HF response is somewhat tip dependent - I'm listening today with Spinfit W1, and I swear the treble is better than with the Spintfit CP100+ I used yesterday. The struggle is real.- Haden2866

Flare EARS by Flare Audio
Yeah, still enjoying mine (R) a good deal. Agree that the design / ergonomics could be better - I tend to wear mine 'up' with an aftermarket UP OCC copper can, and having to reverse L&R and wear them upside down is mildly irritating. Still not a fan of the triangle design concept. I still feel...- Haden2866

I'm using ManarinEs Symbio W with my Dawn, to excellent effect, out of my Sony NW-ZX707. Agree, as a daily commuter these are pretty much ideal.- Haden2866

In lighter news, my Dawn arrived quickly after ordering from the IMR fleabay outlet. First impressions are really good - they are teeny tiny - will be good for going to sleep with.- Haden2866

Here's a wicked bonus James Pennington (The Suburban Knight himself) collab EP from a few years back. Play all cuts! https://www.discogs.com/master/2509708-Suburban-Knight-Vs-Gerome-Sportelli-Vs-Sierra-Sam-Planets Especially this one, which does not pull it's punches: -

...a number of Flare Audio sets, since their early crowdfunding days, up to their current EARS line (I have the beryllium-coated R model) which was *checks notes* crowdfunded. EARS definitely brings some soundstage game, and bass texture for days, but the treble is a little too rolled off for...- Haden2866

Avantone : Pro Planar
It won't make a balanced connection, if that is what you are trying to achieve. For that you would need a TRRS 4.4mm connector, and to modify the headphones by disconnecting the common ground (red wire, IIRC) from one or both sides. I'm not sure why you would want to use a splitter cable for a...- Haden2866
