HEDD Announces HEDDphone With AMT Technology

If you were at the World of Headphones Heidelberg show, then it was probably me. I want to agree, but I also have to stay open-minded. There are different ways of sounding neutral. You can have neutral-measuring speakers, but you will never listen to them in a neutral space. So even if you use...

    Aful Performer Impressions Thread

Here they are side by side. Performer 5 is more relaxed and warmer sounding, Quintet has more bite and attack. In the bass, Quintet has more slam and impact. I really like the midrange, it sounds rich and warm yet gives some extra energy to female voices. P5 sounds veiled in comparison...

    AirPods Max

Day 1 user here. Definitely no (notable) change in sound, except for the option to change it in the accessibility options. I think the option came only after release. As @MayaTlab pointed out, getting consistent measurements can be tricky. Even more so when pads are worn.

RME ADI-2 Pro - DAC, Headamp, an a lot of more stunning features

I have both RMEs, but use them in different rooms. However, ever since the first ADI-2 Pro was released, I‘ve been using the series and didn‘t skip a single entry. So I will try to answer your first questions. 1) Yes, the head-amp in the 2/4 Pro is better than in the ADI-2 DAC FS. It has so...

    Aful Performer Impressions Thread

Ok, so the Performer 5 arrived and I already have some thoughts. I love the shell. It's small and fits comfortably flush in my ear. Definitely an IEM you can take to bed. I have no opinion on the faceplate. Not my style, no idea what it's supposed to represent. If this IEM were more expensive...

The New HIBY R3 II is here. 4.4MM Jack; Improved Sound and Bluetooth.

That’s indeed an interesting device! Seems to be sold out / discontinued. I hope they’re working on a successor.

    Aful Performer Impressions Thread

My god, Gizaudio is hyping the Aful Performer 5 too much… I just had to order one. I love neutral IEMs, the Softears RS10 almost killed the hobby for me. To this day, it‘s the best* I‘ve heard. (*Best as in technically most transparent and accurate, e.g. comparable to near-field studio...

The New HIBY R3 II is here. 4.4MM Jack; Improved Sound and Bluetooth.

So v1.1 didn‘t improve on any of my complaints. The only thing I noticed is that album art loads a bit faster (but still won‘t load for 50% at all). Instead, I tried to feed a Ferrum ERCO via USB-OTG and it was a catastrophe. The Hiby froze up, didn‘t respond, played wrong titles, etc...

The New HIBY R3 II is here. 4.4MM Jack; Improved Sound and Bluetooth.

German user here. I pre-ordered on Sep. 9th. The order was shipped on 19th and arrived 11 days later (30th). I paid 159 € and so far I wasn‘t charged for import tax. I would estimate these to be around 35 € from experience, but sometimes the invoice doesn‘t come, so here‘s hoping. Either way...

The New HIBY R3 II is here. 4.4MM Jack; Improved Sound and Bluetooth.

Hello, fellow Head-Fi‘ers. In a spontaneous decision, I placed an order yesterday. I haven‘t used a DAP in ages. I have a Mojo (2) + Poly, as well as Hugo 2 + 2Go setup, but usually just feed directly off of my iPhone via CCC. (Can‘t wait to finally get USB-C on the iPhone end of this month!)...

    Softears RS10 vs 64 Audio u18t

Oh, and I also have the Hugo 2. If you‘re thinking about to use that one as a source, the 64 Audio picks up some background hiss. The RS10 does not.

    Softears RS10 vs 64 Audio u18t

Hi, I think I might be able to help you. Considering you are used to your ADAM and I work for HEDD (same founder), I will assume our understanding of transparent sound will match quite nicely. I also have RS10 and A18t both as CIEM. The Softears RS10 is much much closer to the sound of...

    Aure Custom Inears Impressions Thread

Hi all, I was wondering if any of you have had experience with Aure yet. They're a Taiwanese boutique CIEM manufacturer. I think they started off with reshells and refits. They now also have a few designs of their own. Website: none Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/aurecustominears/...

Review by 'HuoYuanJia' on item 'KBEAR Neon'

The KB Ear Neon is a single-BA budget IEM designed for audiophiles. Though the company’s official name is KBEAR, I pronounce it as “K.B. Ear” in my head and I think that’s how it’s supposed to be spelled out. This review is a slight step outside my comfort zone. KB Ear is not a new company at...

    Is Hifigo.com legitimate?

Hi, I’m thinking about ordering from HiFiGo. Can anyone who has imported via DDP (Delivery & Duties Paid) via HiFiGo can confirm that they attach the correct commercial invoice? Say if the item costs $999, they‘d receive an invoice from my country‘s customs office higher than $200. Unless they...

    Softears - Discussion & Appreciation

Really curious about that custom RSV! Because the universal version isn't handmade (unlike RS10 + Cerberus), I expect the custom RSV to have even more care taken into it. How is the fit? My RS10 custom has something like a sound chamber after the sound tubes. We used to do it like that at...

    Softears - Discussion & Appreciation

If I recall correctly, Softears was working on the RS10 for 2 years. Nowadays, most IEM have a development time from 1-3 months only! So the care that Softears put into it will be hard to match for a while, probably. I use the RS10 every day at work. I love it so much! FYI, my job is selling...

DUNU FALCON PRO - Impressions thread

I want to share some impressions as well. Love the fit and ergonomics. I'm not a fan of metal bodies, though. Can be cold and the stainless steel usually scratches quickly. So I wouldn't mind a plastic version of this design. The Falcon Pro look quite bling-bling and flashy. I don't think...

HEDD Announces HEDDphone With AMT Technology

Hi BubbaJay, allow me to represent HEDD Audio. Very sorry you experienced this! Unfortunately HEDD were hit with a bad batch of this bracket piece. This was not the case with earlier versions and has also been fixed in the meantime. Now they use a glass fibre-infused plastic (looks absolutely...

    Softears - Discussion & Appreciation

Crin is not the guy for high-end IEM. I think it’s great that he shares is frequency response measurements, but he lacks the passion to appreciate details and nuances. He always only uses one source and he has never spent serious time with high-end amps or DACs. Also the way he squeezes his dB...

    Softears - Discussion & Appreciation

Should be the other way around. Differential amplification has higher OI and also higher noise floor (though better SNR). I usually recommend SE for IEM, but in case of the lesser efficient RS10, balanced makes sense. Not according to my testing. I measured more bass with lower impedance. It's...
